We invited friends and family to Joe Tucker Park for your 2nd birthday. You played and played and played. You loved being outside and playing on the playground. Your birthday party theme was bumblebees. Here are some pictures from the day!

Ella is TWO!
Our sweet Ella,
You are an absolute joy and continue to make us smile. It's hard to believe that you are officially two because time has flown by. You can count to 10, say most of your ABC's, and know lots of colors. Going to daycare has been a wonderful school experience for you. We have watched you grow and learn so many new things. You amaze us at how much you soak up new information. You LOVE, and I mean love, singing nursery rhymes. Some of your favorites are: Where is Thumpkin, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, and The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round. You love to watch youtube videos of these songs.
Your most favorite toy is your baby doll. You still love to do imaginary play with her. We bought you an accessory kit that has play food, bottles, clothes, bibs, etc. for you to play "house" with your doll. We even got you a play potty for your doll and you love asking her if she "want to go potty like big girl, baby?"
Which brings us to potty training. We started this shortly after you turned two. You do a better job at daycare because you see your friends at school using the potty. You have only peed on the potty a few times, but we aren't pushing it. Eventually you will learn.
When we take you to school you say "I see friends." You love your classmates and talk about Ava Grace, Curt, Austin, and Rayna the most.
You are beginning to pick out the clothes and shoes you want to wear. Most of the time you want to wear a skirt or dress, but then you pick your bright green crocs. You look so silly, but are very pleased with yourself.
Ella, you are our ray of sunshine. We love you!

Ella is 23 Months old!
Dear Sweet Ella,
My, oh my, you are soooooooo fun these days. You are constantly making us laugh with all your silly faces and dance moves. You are beginning to talk in sentences and carry on conversations with us. Sometimes we don't always know what you are saying, but you do! You are aware of what people are saying and will repeat words and phrases. At school, you are learning how to count. You will only say 1, 2, and 4. You refuse to say 3...and just smile at us when we try to get you to say it. We have noticed that you are also understanding your colors and will identify some of them when you are playing with your toys.
This month you have taken an interest in imaginary play. You enjoy playing with your dollhouse figurines (but not with the actual dollhouse yet). You have several baby dolls that you enjoy carrying around, feeding, and saying "night-night" to.
You aren't scared of your shadow anymore!!!! Instead, you now greet your shadow when you see it by saying, "Hi shadow" and waving to it.
You have now become opinionated on which bow you wear. If you don't like the one I put in your hair you will take it off and say "other bow." Normally it's one that doesn't match! I'm dreading the day you will want to dress yourself...boy are we going to be in for it. You already choose mismatched shoes, so I can only imagine what quirky outfits will develop.
One of your favorite words is MINE! Then again, isn't that what most toddlers say at this age?! You especially like to say "my seat" and then proceed to steal other peoples' seats on the couch or chair. You think it's hilarious when the person comes back and finds you in their seat. You will just laugh and laugh...like you tricked them!
We have noticed that you are starting to "show off" when we have company. You will do the silliest things to get the attention of adults...things you never do when it's just mommy and daddy. You love to be RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the action. We can be out in public and you will be everyone's friend by walking up to strangers and saying "hi" and waving to them.
You have taken your singing ability to a whole new level. You will belt out your song VERY LOUD for everyone to hear. Your favorite song these days is "Row, row, row your boat." And you sing it all day long!
You have figured out how to reach things. You just pull over a chair, climb on top of it, and then you can see everything on the counter. This has posed a new challenge for us because you are super sneaky about it. But, it also shows how clever you are!
You LOVE, LOVE, LOVE bike rides. We have a seat attached to our bike and you really enjoy riding around the neighborhood.
This month you cut 2 more teeth...your top left cuspid and your bottom left cuspid. We are assuming that your right cuspids will be coming soon!
I can't believe that next month you will be TWO YEARS OLD! It makes us a little sad to think about how fast you are growing.

22 Months
Here are some new things about you this past month:
~ You recognize people in pictures and say their name.
~ When we are out running errands and enter our neighborhood to come home, you start saying, "No! No!" because you want to stay out instead of coming home!
~ There are three TV shows/movies that you LOVE to watch: Franklin, The Bee Movie, and Tinkerbell. You call The Bee Movie "Bumblebee" and Tinkerbell "Elle-belle."
~ You like to say, "Ready, one, two" and then fall on us.
~ You have started to say, "Bless You" when someone sneezes.
~ You have begun to enjoy playing with your baby dolls. You like to put them in their stroller and push them around. You also will feed, burp, and tell them night-night.
~ You have discovered shadows and are terrified of them. You don't understand the concept and get scared of them really quick.

21 Months
Ella, you are growing so fast. It's hard to imagine that in a few short months you will be 2. You amaze us everyday with how quickly you learn new things and how great your memory is. It has been a JOY to begin having conversations with you. Sometimes you will crawl into our laps and say, "Hi mommy. Hi daddy." and then smile. You are the cutest thing! You love to laugh and find it delightful to make us laugh at you. You are quite the entertainer.
You love the outdoors and would spend hours out there if you could. It is fun watching you enjoy nature and point out things like: tree, bird, car, dog, wall (to anything that resembles a wall), chair, flower, etc. You love to play with water outside, especially dumping water on mommy!
You are very independent when we go to the Matherne's pool. You want to swim by yourself and don't understand the importance of being held. You don't like to be confined to a float so you spend your time mostly climbing in and out of the pool trying to get away from us. We took you to the Pelham YMCA and you LOVED it. Their big pool has a gradual incline entrance like a beach, so you could walk around independently. They also had a baby pool, which you enjoyed.
Mommy takes you to the library 2-3 times a week. We go to storytime every Wednesday morning. They have music, stories, crafts, and a snack. You love to interact with the other toddlers and dance to the music. We also go on Friday mornings for Lego time. You normally don't play with the Lego's, but instead, you walk around trying to talk to the other kids. Sometimes we go on Thursday nights for Pajama storytime. Hopefully you will grow up with a love for reading!
You have taken an interest in one of your baby dolls. You will carry her around saying, "Oh baby" and rock her in your arms. You will also lie her down on her tummy, pat her back, and say, "Good girl baby. Night night baby." Sometimes you will also put the baby in the baby stroller and walk her around the house.
Some of your favorite sayings are:
"Oh gosh."
"No ma'am, Ella."
"Good girl, Ella."
"I sorry."
"Where'd it go?"
"I gonna getchu."
"I cool." (in your sunglasses)
You talk to yourself in first person all the time. Good thing you have an easy name to say!
Right now you take one afternoon nap a day for about 2 hours. Mommy normally has to wake you up so you don't sleep too long. Otherwise you have a hard time going to bed at night.
This month we took you to Chuck E Cheese's for the first time and you had a blast! We also took you to the McWane Science Center. There was an area specifically for kids 5 and under, but you didn't like that area. You wanted to hang out with the "big kids" and do all the hands-on experiments and activities!
Grandpa and Nonni came to visit you for the July 4th weekend. We had a lot of fun visiting many Birmingham attractions and eating out!

20 Months
Not much has changed this month...
~ You LOVE shoes. In fact, you want to wear them all the time. There have been times you will wear your crocs in the bathtub and you beg to wear them at night to bed. It's quite funny. You just don't feel complete unless you have your shoes on!
~ You are very interested in doors these days. You love to shut doors if you see them open. You try to open doors, but you haven't gotten the hang of that...yet.
~ Before we leave the house sometimes you will yell, "bow" because you need your bow to go out in public. You don't yank it out as often anymore.
~ You are more cuddly now more than ever and WE LOVE IT!
~ You have a deep admiration for your daddy. You constantly want to know where he's at. You get so excited when he comes home from work!
We love you to pieces and are enjoying your wonderful personality that God has designed for you.

19 Months
You are busy, busy, busy. You rarely stop moving! We cannot get any cuddles or kisses from you unless you are really tired because you are so active and curious.
You LOVE and I mean LOVE shoes. You enjoy wearing your "church shoes" around the house. I guess because they are shiny...
Mommy painted your toenails for the first time and you loved showing Daddy and Dingo. We were surprised that you noticed they needed "touching up" and waited patiently while Mommy painted them again :)
You are really into "lift-the-flap" books. You got a few new books for Easter like this and love to sit and interact with them. These are the only books that capture your attention long enough to actually finish the book!!!!
You have figured out how to climb on the couch (and mommy and daddy's bed). You are doing a great job realizing the boundaries to the couch and bed so you are careful not to fall off.
Sometimes you will hold still long enough for Mommy to put pigtails in your hair.
Another thing you have mastered is HITTING PEOPLE. Oh, it has been a joy to watch you develop this skill. *This is said with thick sarcasm. * In fact, you received your first behavior card at school. I even had to sign it! It read "Ella was hitting teachers' face repeatedly."
You like balls and are having fun throwing them. You call a lot of round things balls, even when they aren't balls. (Example: You call balloons balls.)
This was also the first Easter you were able to hunt for Easter eggs and you had a BLAST! We went to a lot of egg hunts around Birmingham. At first, you weren't sure where to put your eggs so you would put them in random kids' baskets. Then you realized you were suppose to put them in your OWN basket. By the 3rd hunt, you were a pro! You got very scared of the Easter bunny so we didn't attempt a picture on the bunny's lap.
